ODESSA — Barbara JoAnne Mason, 82, from Odessa, Texas, died Sunday, June 10, 2018, after a brief illness.

JoAnne was born Nov. 19, 1935, in Clovis, New Mexico. Her parents, E.L. "Buster" Cochran and Mary Alice Cochran preceded her in death.

JoAnne grew up in Bovina, Texas, and graduated from high school in Farwell, Texas. JoAnne married Charles Mason in 1954, and they made their home in Odessa, Texas. They later moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, and later built their dream home in retirement in Kerrville, Texas. They spent their retired years woodworking, enjoyed traveling and selling their creations.

JoAnne was a hairdresser as well as a homemaker and was always involved in her church home in every city they lived. She was the director of Community Bible Study in Corpus Christi, Texas, for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Kerrville, Texas, where she taught women's Sunday school for more than 20 years. She later joined Immanuel Baptist Church after moving back to Odessa in 2015, where she resided at Brookdale Assisted Living facility and made her home there.

JoAnne was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wayne Mason.

She is survived by two sons, Gary Mason and wife, Merryanne of Odessa, and Michael Mason and his wife, Julie of Wichita Falls; as well as grandchildren, Brady, Brittany, Mikayla, Morgun and Myles.

As one of her very close friends wrote so eloquently in her daily journal after hearing the news, "Jesus, Jo is with you singing clearly, quoting your word with clarity, walking, talking and praying with you. Isn't that a glorious picture of what she is doing today? May we honor her influence in our lives by doing the same from here until we can join their circle."

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2018, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas.

Her dear friend and former Worship Pastor, James Ervin, will be speaking and providing music. Pastor Landon Coleman will be officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home, 601 N. Alleghaney, Odessa, Texas; 432-332-0991.
