Mr. John Lester "Frog" Armstrong, age 65, resident of Kilmichael, died after a lengthy illness Sunday, April 25, 1993 at Kilmichael Hospital. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nillie Brantley Armstrong and the husband of Mrs. Fannie Dell Sudduth Armstrong.
A native of Montgomery County, Mr. Armstrong was a retired road construction worker for J.J. Ferguson Company and a member of Bethsaida Baptist Church. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Grenada VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Fannie Dell Armstrong of Kilmichael; three daughters, Mrs. Shirley Channel of Ackerman, Mrs. Donna Reed of Oxford and Mrs. Martha Wiggins of Greenwood; two sons, Arkell Armstrong of Grenada and Eddie Armstrong of Kilmichael; two sisters, Mrs. Bonnie Bridges and Mrs. Neva Mason, both of Kilmichael; two brothers, James "Runt" Armstrong of Milton, Florida and Billy Armstrong of Winona; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at Bethsaida Baptist Church Monday, April 26 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dewitt Cutts officiating, assisted by Dan Beardain. Burial was in Bethsaida Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Guy Stanford, Brent Stanford, Mike Armstrong, Mike Sudduth, David Cross and Bobby Mason.
Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Channell, Robert Channell, Keith Wiggins, Howard Reed, Harvey Greenlee, Toad Donahoo and Christopher Armstrong.
Oliver Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
