David Earl Adams, 82, passed away on May 19, 2021, after a brief illness.
A lifelong resident of Tobinsport, he was born on October 21, 1938. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles "Tomer" Adams and Leona V. (Poehlein) Adams.
David graduated from Cannelton High School in 1956 where he played football and basketball. He remained an avid football fan his entire life, especially when the Purdue Boilermakers were playing. He graduated from Bailey Diesel Technical School in St. Louis in 1958.
David married Evelyn Taylor on June 19, 1960. David loved spending time with his family and close friends, and was an avid outdoorsman and expert gunsmith. He hosted 4-H Shooting Sports meetings for several years and enjoyed hunting, trapping and fishing. David was also a master craftsman when working with wood or metal.
David was a member of the following organizations: International Cartridge Association; .22 Box Collectors; Winchester Collector's Association; Life member of NRA; Rome, Masonic Lodge; Clayton Harris Memorial United Methodist Church; 25 year 4-H Leader; Purdue Club of Lincoln Hills.
David worked for Farm Bureau Co-op in Chrisney; owned A & S Service Station with the late Robert Stilwell in Cannelton; worked at Maxon Marine, Tell City Marine Service and retired from J. H. Rudolph in 1996 where he was a member of the Teamsters Union.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn Adams; a daughter, Mary Garretson (Mark), Pendleton and Tobinsport; grandchildren, Drew Garretson (Tiffany), Vincennes, Ashley Donaugh (Bryan) Fortville and D. Adam Garretson (fiancée, Christina), Denver, CO; great-grandchildren Avery Garretson; Titus Donaugh; Taylor Ann Garretson and Malachi Donaugh; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Lockridge, Evansville and nephew, Jeff Lockridge (Lisa), Evansville.
Services will be 11:00 AM CDT on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Clayton Harris Memorial United Methodist Church. Pastor Ann Skiba will officiate. Burial will follow in Simons Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 3:00-7:00 PM at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel and Tuesday from 10:00 -11:00 AM at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of the following organizations: Tobinsport Cemetery Fund, Clayton Harris Memorial United Methodist Church, Perry County 4-H Scholarship through Perry County Community Foundation or the Cannelton Food Pantry
