"Charles A. Harms, 60, died last night at his home, 48 Ransom street, after an illness of a week with pneumonia. Born in Germany, he had resided in North Tonawanda for the past 48 years. He was a member of Sutherland Lodge, F&AM; Electric City Lodge, I.O.O.F.; Enterprise Encampment, I.O.O.F., the North Tonawanda Volunteer Firemen's Benevolent Association and the Workmens' Sick and Death Benefit Association. Surviving are his wife, Margaret (nee Kersten); two sisters, Mrs. Wallace B. Johns and Mrs. Helen Rogers; a brother, Arnold; and a step-brother, William Abram, all of North Tonawanda. Rites will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and will be private. The Rev. Walter F. Hetzel will officiate. Burial will be in Acacia Park." The News of the Tonawandas, December 7, 1943
