Daniel David Parrish, 86, of Staunton passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the Shenandoah Hospice House, Fishersville.

Born July 25, 1934 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he was the son of the late Earl Stevens and Ruth (Hubbell) Parrish. On October 20, 1956, he married Lida Leisen. The two shared 64 wonderful years together.

Daniel was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Staunton. He was a 1956 graduate of Virginia Tech where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science and was a member of the Corps of Cadets. He served his country honorably in the Army for 16 months in Korea. He then joined the National Guard where he served for over 25 years and rose to the rank of Major. Daniel was a math teacher at Augusta Military Academy. He also owned and operated Parrish Egg Farm in Verona for many years and later Parrish & Venn Insurance with his daughter in Staunton. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Earl Parrish.

Survivors include his loving wife, Lida (Leisen) Parrish of Staunton; children, Danna Reddington and husband, Scott of Cocoa, FL, David Parrish and wife, Judith of Staunton, Douglas Parrish and wife, Dana of Mt. Sidney, Mary Lida Venn and husband, Jonathan of Staunton, and Matthew Parrish and wife, Kimberly of Roanoke, Va; grandchildren, Daniel, Kate, Natalie, Kallie, and Brody Parrish and Claire and Garrett Venn; and sister, Cherie Turman of Staunton.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Augusta Stone Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 28 Old Stone Church Road, Fort Defiance, VA with Mr. Daniel Pritchett officiating. All who plan to attend are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.

There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to Augusta Health Foundation, C/O Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939.
