Edith was born on July 25, 1929 in Suhl-Thüringen, Germany to the late Alfred and Frieda (Brückner) Weisheit. She lived with her family in Zella Mehlis, Germany until 1948. After leaving home, she studied at the Universities of Jena, Leipzig and Berlin, Germany, In 1951 she fled East Germany through Berlin and re-united with her family who escaped previously. She worked in Frankfurt, Germany as an overseas teletype and telephone operator. during this time she met and married her husband of 53 years, Richard D. Branham, who was serving in the U.S. Army. During their military years, they lived in Kaiserslautern and Berlin, Germany as well as Michigan and Maryland and experienced travels in various parts of the world, prior to settling down in Colorado Springs in 1971. In 1976 she opened "Quality Gifts" and has devoted the past thirty three years to making her gift shop a home to many loyal customers. Edith met many wonderful friends over the years and experienced a great appreciation for their thoughts, visits and conversation. Edith is survived by her husband, Richard; her children, her grandchildren, one sister, many nieces and nephews as well as relatives and close friends in Germany. She loved her many friends and family and will be sadly missed by all.
