SOUTH BERWICK, Maine - Susanne Langdon (Delano) Dunn, 71, of Witchtrot Road died on Thursday March 28, 2013.

Born in Baltimore, Md., in 1941, a daughter of Raymond P. Delano, Jr. and Audrey Spoerer Delano. The family moved to Wilmington, Del., and then to a farm in Calvert, Md. From Rising Sun (Md.) High School, she went on to Moore College of Art (Pa.), and then to University of Delaware.

She taught junior high art and then elementary art as a "traveling teacher" with six schools. She, herself, enjoyed learning the various processes used to create "arts and crafts," finding some of particular interest. Later on she extended her love of books and reading with a job in a public library and finally as a library volunteer for many years.

She loved her animals: cats, dogs, and horses. She "discovered" clouds as a child and never failed to find them a source of beauty and awe. At night, she loved to watch for "shooting stars." A walk in the woods was restorative. All of nature was her source of inner strength.

She was married briefly to Edward S. Bear, and later to Francis B. Dunn (d. 1994). She was predeceased by her sister, Elise Delano Biggs (d. 1989) and her parents (d. 1993). She is survived by her family who have been her foundation, seeing her through to the last; son, Edward S. Bear, Jr. and his wife Sharon (Peckham) of South Weymouth, Mass.; daughter Anne Bear Honkonen, and her husband, Karl, of South Berwick, Maine; grandsons, Charles E. and Henry O. Honkonen of South Berwick, Maine and Matthew P. Honkonen of Vail, Colo.; cousins near and far, and her friends, old and new. (Buddy, the cat, will be disappointed that she disappeared!)

Please join a celebration of her life on Monday, April 1, from 4-7 p.m., at the South Berwick Library, 27 Young Street, South Berwick, Maine 03908. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made on Susanne's behalf to the South Berwick library to further their good work and the love of books.
