Delia, 90, of Manistee, died Friday, May 26, 2011. On Thursday, May 13, Delia made the transition to her eternal home. Dee lived in Manistee with her surviving husband, Henry, for 47 years and both taught school at Trinity Lutheran for many of those years.
Singing was a joy for Delia, and she sang with the Trinity choir and community choir as often as possible. Many pianists credit their early training to Mrs. Bergman, including her two daughters Patricia Ann (Bergman) Thiele and Ruth Ann (Bergman) Zehnder. Patty and her husband David reside in Eaton Rapids, while Ruth and her husband Tim live in Boiling Springs, NC. Delia has two sisters who live in Illinois, Ruth Gielow and Georgia Kellerman.
Dee's granddaughter, Amanda, greeted her in heaven.
Dee's grandsons, Joshua, Joel, and Steve Thiele live in Michigan while John-Mark, Micah, and Malachi Zehnder live in North Carolina. Henry and Dee's first great-grandchild will be born in June to Joel and His wife Heather.
In past years, Delia was often seen helping her husband Henry tend the beautiful flowers in Manistee. This January Dee and Henry moved to Edgewood Retirement Facility in Lansing where Henry still resides.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Later in the summer. The family is requesting that memorial gifts be given to Trinity Lutheran School's Student Aid fund in Delia's honor.
