Died, at the family residence, six miles west of the city, in Curran township, Friday afternoon, Jun 16, 1906, John Archer, aged 79 years, 8 months and 12 days. Mr. Archer was one of the earliest settlers of the county, being born in this vicinity Oct. 3, 1826. He was married to Miss Susan Taylor sixty-four years ago. She preceded him to the grave by ten years.
The deceased leaves to mourn his loss, one daughter Miss America Archer, who resides at home, and three sisters, Miss Sarah Archer, Mrs. S. O. Maxcy and Mrs. Samuel Vorhes.
Mr. Archer was an old veteran of the Civil war, having served with honor and distinction in the cavalry branch of the service. IL State Register, Springfield, IL, 6-16-1906
