Fred was a WW1 Vet. In fact it is said that he was the last Ky WW1 vet to die. He worked from his teens to retirement as a postman. He lived in Cincinnati, but worked in the Ky Post Office. As he sat in the big window of the office across the street in the seamtress shop sat a pretty girl sewing all day.And soon they married. He'd walk her home to her Covington house, then run for a bus to get himself home to Cincinnati. They got along wonderfully, and he said they never had any regrets about their playing post office.

Fred worked for the post office until his retirement. He also attended St Augtine Catholic Church. In his latter yrs he would spend time between his daughters Nancy VonGries Byrne in Chicago and her sister Dolores. He led a full life, and is still missed.
