He is the son of Dr. John Wesley Reading and Jane Charlotte Webster. He has one brother Rev. Benjamin Franklin Reading of Toledo, Ohio. He married Ida Belle Glosser on November 26, 1885 in Richwood, Union Co., Ohio. They have 7 children: Nellie May, Minnie Lorena, John Webster, Catherine Ola, Jennie Golda, Alma Alice, and a child. His first wife Ida died in 1898. His second marriage was to Mary L. Spain on August 22, 1900 in Marion, Ohio. They had 3 children: Isabelle Elsie, William Dale, and Dorothy Della. Reading, 74 of Los Angeles, a resident of Marion, Ohio and vicinity until about 12 years ago, died at 12 noon today at the home of his daughter Mrs. Clyde B. Jolliff of 302 Blaine Avenue. Mr. Reading came here two weeks ago to visit his daughter and had been ill almost since arrival. The cause of death was pneumonia. He was born January 22, 1864 in Bellevue, Ohio to Dr. John W. Reading and Jane Webster Reading, both now dead. He was married November 26, 1885 to Ida B. Glosser, who proceeded him in death. His second wife , Mary L. Spain, to whom he was married August 22, 1900, is also dead. Surviving are a brother, Rev. B.F. Reading of Toledo, Ohio and the following children: Mrs. Jolliff, Mrs. Arthur J. Berry of 355 Cherry Street, and Mrs. Robert Bray, Mrs. Charles Vowels, and William D. Reading, all of Los Angeles, Ca. During 15 years of the time he lived in this vicinity, Mr. Reading operated a grocery store. Funeral Services and burial are to be in Los Angeles, Ca.
