Norcatur- Dorothy Ward, 96, peacefully went to heaven the morning of May 9, 2021. She was born on March 20, 1925, to Luster and Pearl (Chappell) Dick, at the family home in Norcatur, Kansas. She joined two brothers, Donald and Harold, and later became a big sister to Donna.
After graduating high school, she went to work for Citizen's State Bank and there she caught the eye of Kenneth G Ward. He was a widower with two small children, Lora Linn and Douglas, so the courtship was not typical since the children went along on most of their dates. They married and spent the next 59 years sharing their lives and love.
Dorothy will be forever loved and missed by those she leaves behind. Her survivors are son Mark & his wife Deb, Hugo, CO; daughter-in-law Paula Ward, Denver, CO; six grandchildren: Rodney (Lisa) Leichliter, Seibert, CO; Lila Freshment, Kennewick, WA; Ronald (Bea) Leichliter, Colorado Springs, CO; Diana Ward, Denver, CO; Kenneth J (Breanna) Ward, Beaumont, TX; and Brandon Ward, Hugo, CO; five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and brother-in-law David Thompson, Harrisville, PA.
She was predeceased by husband Kenneth G Ward, daughter Lora Linn and son-in-law Lyman Leichliter, son Douglas Ward, granddaughter Roberta Leichliter, grandson David Ward; as well as parents Luster and Pearl Dick, brother Donald (Marie) Dick, brother Harold (Nadine) Dick, and sister Donna Thompson. She will also be missed by many more relatives and friends, including the staff of Lincoln Park Living Center.
