Ferris Foster Crump was born on February 26, 1890 in Jordonia, Davidson County, Tennessee, a twin of Granville Ridley "George" Crump (1890–1964) and the son of William Crump (1856–1925) and Anna Elizabeth "Annie" (Morgan) Crump (1855–1927). {Although his Death Certificate has his 1st name as Farris, other public documents have it as Ferris.}

He was married in 1907 to Bertie L Bugg (1889–1954), the daughter of John W Bugg and Telitha (Butler) Bugg.

A hostler for L&N Railroad and living at 3406 Saindon Avenue in Nashville, Ferris was 75 years old and a widower when he died on February 21, 1966 at Nashville General Hospital, where he had been for sixteen days. Burial was on February 23rd in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashville.

Much of the above is from his Death Certificate, with Mrs Margaret Elliott of 514 Raymond Street as the informant.
