A talented homemaker, she was an excellent cook and enthusiastic host who frequently welcomed family and friends into her home for parties and dinners to celebrate birthdays, weddings, holidays and other special occasions. (she also played the piano and even taught piano before her banking career)
Known as "Mimi" to her grandchidren, she showered them with unconditional love and support throughout their lives.
She was a generous and loving caregiver to countless relatives, neighbors and friends.
An active member of Hickory Grove UMC for over 40 years, she belonged to the Methodist Women and the Epworth Sunday School Class. She lent her support to the Methodist Youth Fellowship and to other church committees including Worship Work Area.
She will be sorely missed by those survive her: husband O'Neal Moser Carnes; one son; a daughter-in-law; sister-and-brothers-in-law; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Rhett Marcus Carnes.
Memorial service was held at HGUMC on May 8, 2011 at which time her cremains were interred into the Columbarium.
