Many Friends Attend Funeral of David J. Legassey...
MILLINOCKET, Oct. 16 -- ....
The funeral services of David J. Legassey were held from St. Martin's Catholic church on Tuesday morning at 8:30, Rev. Father Fahey of Van Buren officiating. There were many beautiful floral tributes, including a special one from the Barbers' Union. The funeral was attended by many relatives and friends. The pall bearers were Harry Rush, Edward Corrigan, Philip Connors, Frank LePage, Fred Boynton and Dr. Pelletier. Funeral Director Bragdon was in charge and the interment was in the local cemetery. Mr. Legassey was born in Maine and lived in Millinocket almost ever since the town started, having learned the barbers' trade here and for fifteen years had a flourishing business of his own. He married Jennie Hayes, daughter of Mrs. John Mackin and had a large family, six children being living. He leaves to mourn besides his wife and children an aged father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Legassey, two brothers, Max and Paul of Medway, and three brothers, John, George and Fred and one sister, Mrs. Benj. Boutaugh of Millinocket, also a brother and sister elsewhere in Maine. Mr. Legassey's death was due to Bright's disease and he had been from some time a great sufferer. He was a kindly and affable man and much esteemed by many and he leaves a host of friends who extend sincere sympathy to his loved ones. Many places of business in town were closed during the funeral out of respect to his memory.
