EARLVILLE, Iowa - Herbert M. Hook, 77, of Earlville, died suddenly, Saturday morning, Aug. 8, 1998, at the Delaware County Memorial Hospital, Manchester.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Earlville united Parish, with the Rev. Lynn Patrick officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Earlville. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Clifton Funeral Home, Earlville, and after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

He was born on March 16, 1921, in Colesburg, son of Earl and Florence (Kruger) Hook. He married Catherine Williams on Jan. 11, 1940, in Manchester.

He worked at Modernfold in Dyersville for many years. In 1959, they moved from Greeley to Earlville, where they continued to live after his retirement.

Surviving are his wife, Catherine; two daughters, Judy Mast and Delores (LaVern) Chapman, of Manchester; 13 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Irene Garske and Thelma Kryer, of Beloit, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Beulah Unkel; and a brother, in infancy.
