Caroline Brooks died at the Southwestern Insane Asylum (now the San Antonio State Hospital) on 19 February 1904. She apparently had been living at that facility from sometime in 1898 until her death from "Exhaustion" complicated by "Chronic Pulmonary Tuberculous." Tuberculous could have been the reason she'd been admitted to that facility rather than mental illness.
