BAKER, Bonnie Lois (Smith) Bonnie Lois (Smith) Baker, long-time Dallas-area resident, teacher and university executive assistant, and wife of 62 years to George Allen Baker, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 3, 2021 in Amarillo, Tx., succumbing to Alzheimer's disease. She was 84. Bonnie's passing truly marks the end of an era, as she and husband George, who passed away on December 30, 2020, also 84, were influential community fixtures in the DFW Metroplex for 60 years. From their long careers teaching at area middle and high schools, to their decades-long service to their church communities, to their 50-plus years of singing in countless weddings, adding their beautiful voices to each celebration, Bonnie and George left an indelible mark on the lives of thousands of fortunate students, associates and friends. A double memorial and celebration of life for George and Bonnie Baker will be held on SATURDAY, May 15, 2021, 2 p.m. at Highland Oaks Church of Christ, 10805 Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas, TX. A meet and greet fellowship will follow the service. Masks requested. A livestream of the service is available on the Highland Oaks Church of Christ Youtube Channel. The family is so thankful for the outpouring of love, condolences and expressions of concern from a multitude of loving friends. Highland Oaks is making a memorial contribution to Lifeline Chaplaincy to honor George and Bonnie's commitment to pastoral love and care. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made directly to Highland Oaks Church of Christ who will distribute those funds after June 1. In addition, a more detailed obituary/history will be available for viewing at forevermissed.com, along with photos of Bonnie and George and family. All are invited to log on with tributes, comments and photos to this living, growing memorial to two incredible people, George and Bonnie Baker.
