After she married and left her parents' home at Am Marstall 14 in Hannover, Franja and her husband Heinrich owned and ran a clothing store in Bremen. He was forced to leave the country in 1938 for the Netherlands and subsequently went to Belgium. After the pogroms of November 1938, Franja and their children Martin (18 Aug 1923 Hannover - 23 Jan 2020 Israel) and Miriam joined him in Belgium. They applied for emigration to the USA and were on a waiting list. Martin was able to emigrate to Palestine in 1940, but the rest of the family, along with Franja's sister Rosa Bloch were arrested and brought to the Mechelen (Malines) camp. In September 1942 they were deported to Auschwitz and murdered.
