Married Etta El Thomas in Larned, Kansas in July of 1904. They had six children: Pearl, Florence, Opal, Bertha, William, and Glenn. Their daughter Bertha died in childhood and her burial site is unmarked in the Greenlawn Cemetery. It is thought that her grave is near that of her parents.
