Maggie Valley, Carolyn Ann Abbott Pope, 86, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Blanche Hall Abbott.. She was also preceded in death by her brother, William E. Abbott, II.
Carolyn graduated from Grady Memorial Hospital with a degree in Registered Nursing and worked as a registered nurse until her retirement. Carolyn and McClain enjoyed traveling for several years prior to residing in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for 19 years. They then returned to Haywood County in 2015.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 32 years, Clarence (McClain) Pope; a son, Tom Glenn and his wife, Laura, of Acworth, Georgia; a daughter, Jan Barrett, of Acworth, Georgia; a stepson, Kelly Pope of Bellingham, Washington; a stepdaughter, Patricia Pope Ganskopp and her husband, Daryl, of Canton; a sister, Judy Abbott McCracken and her husband, Dan, of Clyde; two grandchildren, Brianna Ganskopp and Sierra Pope; and four great-grandsons.
