He and his wife/best friend of 60 years had spoken loving words prior to his sleeping that night. Tom retired from a 35 year career at Goodyear and afterwards was blessed with 25 years of retirement with rich travel experiences. His travel and love of his home and family were great sources of enjoyment and pride for him. He was known to be a giving man, both of his talents and time. He joyously cared deeply for others. He had a smile, encouraging word and welcoming spirit for all. Truly, he rarely met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Preceding him in death are his parents, Jake and Louise Stephens; and brothers, Wayne and Hiram Stephens. Survivors include his loving wife, Jacquelyn Sansom Stephens; sons, Gary (Stacey) Stephens, Glenn (Cathy) Stephens; daughter, Jana Thompson; grandchildren, Wes (Nena) Stephens, Spencer (Angela) Stephens, Emily (Harrison) Karr, Jada (Braxton) Pugh; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Don (Shirley) Stephens, Mickey Stephens; sisters in law, Sandra (Jim) Wanner, Karon (Wayne) Fortenberry, and Cathy Stephens.
