Vernon Dean Camp, 83, of Stephenville, formerly of Weatherford, passed away on early Saturday, May 1, 2021 at his home.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7, Monday evening, May 3, 2021, at the Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm Street, in Weatherford. A graveside committal service will be held at 10 A.M., on Tuesday, May 4, at East Greenwood Cemetery, in Weatherford, with Pastor Clark Bosher of Willow Park Baptist Church officiating.
Vernon was born on January 14, 1938, in Elkhart, Texas to Alley and Irene Camp. He was a devout Christian who was saved at age 26 and "never quit witnessing for the Lord", quoting scripture, and leading people to the Lord. Vernon was a children's pastor for over 30 years and enjoyed doing Gospel magic and chalk talks for the children. Additionally, he was very talented and artistic making crosses and other works of art with his hands. Most of all, Vernon was committed to his family – particularly to his great-granddaughters.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Verna; his children, Deana and husband Steve Glaze and Keith and wife Sandy Camp; his grandchildren, Michael Glaze and Stephanie Mercer; and by his great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Cooper, Kennedy, and Tinslee; and by his brothers, Howard, Harlan, and Bobby Camp

In addition to his parents, Vernon was preceded in death by his first wife, Jan of 45 years, and by his brothers, Frank and Bobby Camp.
