Kirchner, John Arthur age 57 of Burnsville, was suddenly called to his heavenly home on March 21, 2020, in Hastings, MN. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather. He was also a son, brother, uncle and was loved by all who knew him. His family will always remember the faith that he shared in all aspects of life. God, family and job - the order in which John lived his life. John had the gift of listening and he always asked you "What's your story?" His passion was teaching children and through that sharing his faith. He was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is with his creator. John was born in Lincoln, IL, to Rev. Donald and Margaret (Worm) Kirchner on September 11, 1962. He was baptized into faith at Zion Lutheran in Chestnut, IL, September 23, 1962. He graduated from High School in Mount Pulaski, IL, and then completed his education with a Bachelors of Science from Concordia University, River Forest, IL. He married Cheri Middlestadt on July 29, 1989. He served 20 years as a teacher at St. Peters Lutheran in Edina, MN, where he was Athletic Director and math teacher. He also worked for 10 years in marketing with Liturgical Publications, Inc. Through his involvement in LCMS schools, he founded and administered the Minnesota State Lutheran basketball tournament. He and his wife Cheri enjoyed time with family, traveling, collecting antiques, especially Red Wing Pottery and were the model of a Christ-centered marriage. An intimate family service will be held March 27, 2020 at 10 am at St. Michaels Lutheran Church, Bloom- ington, MN. Those wishing to participate, can attend live @ smlcb.org. A service of Thanksgiving will be planned for a later date. John is preceded in death by his father Donald. John is survived by and will be deeply missed by wife Cheri of 31 years, son Blake (Danielle) Hastings, MN, sister Mary Anne Bloom-ington, IL, brother Philip (Dawn) Suamico, WI, mother Margaret Clinton, IL, and granddaughter Blair. He is also survived by sister-in-law Lynn (Joe) Toledo, OH, and nieces and nephews Abby, Olivia, Maria, Johanna, and Grant, and great nieces and nephews Keyyon, Hope, and Ezra. In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, donations can be directed to the family to be used for Lutheran Schools or Feed My Starving Children. These were two things that John was passionate about. "I have called you by name; you are mine." Isaiah 43:1
