Emmette F. Gumm, Hospital Executive
Services for Emmette F. Gumm of 530 Valley Rd., Upper Montclair, formerly of Cedar Grove, retired business manager of Overbrook Hospital, were held Tuesday at Arthur K. Brown Inc., Home for Services. The Rev. John C. Owens of Saint Luke's Episcopal Church officiated. Burial was in Mount Hebron Cemetery. Mr. Gumm died Saturday in Mountainside Hospital. He was 84. Born in Clinton, Mo., he lived in Cedar Grove for 14 years before moving to Montclair six years ago. Mr. Gumm had been employed as business manager for several Essex County Hospitals. In 1967 he retired from Overbrook. A member of the Retired Naval Officers Association, he had served as a Commander in both World War I and II. Surviving are his wife, Anna Breen Gumm and two sons, Emmette F. Gumm Jr. of Berkeley Heights, James D. Gumm of Upper Montclair; a brother Ernest Gumm of Council Bluffs, Iowa and two grandchildren.
