Gary Handy was born in Wichita, Kan. on July 3, 1938. Gary lived in Kansas and did chores on their farm until he and the family moved to Inglewood, Calif. and lived on 113th St. He met his wife, Marcia Morris, who lived right next door and they were married Feb. 15, 1969, in Inglewood, CA. They moved to Sierra Vista, Arizona and had four children, Theresa A. Handy, Craig A. Handy, Nathan D. Handy and Shaun U. Handy Sr.
Gary especially loved forecasting the weather and he even did the forecast for local channel 3 for Sierra Vista for a couple of years. He passed on his weather passion to his son Craig who is a weather geek and a volunteer for CoCoRahs today. Gary loved gardening, especially roses, camping, cars, motorcycles and studying the Bible. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses for his whole life.
He is survived by wife Marcia; daughter Theresa; son Craig and daughter-in-law Jennifer; son Nathan, sister Adeline and husband Earl; and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil, in 1971; mother Helen in 2005; brother Craig in 1970; and son Shaun Sr. in 2005.
There will be a memorial service Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3030 Grand Prairie Road S.E., in Albany.
