John was married to his second wife Prudy(Prudence) Ann (Dixson) Provence abt 1889 until his death in 1940. Prudy died on July 31, 1941 and is buried in the Hazelton Memorial cemetery in Buckeye Arizona. John and Prudy had 9 children together 4 sons ( William Frazier, Jess Monroe,and John Thomas, James Bedford and 5 daughters Altha Eunice, Gertrude "Gertie" Lee, Lillian Emeline,Minnie Bell and Flora May Provence. The daughters married names were Altha Carpenter, Gertrude Sheek, Lillian Stevens-Loman, and Minnie Bedford. Two of their children James Bedford Provence and Flora May Provence only lived a short while and died when they were babies. James Bedford Provence was born Dec 17, 1889 August 23, 1890. Flora May Provence was born March 11, 1894 and died in 1897. (I believe that James and Flora were both born and died in Oklahoma but we do not know for sure where either was born,died or are buried). John Monroe Provence's father was Frazier (F.V.) Vandalia Provence (born in 1839 in Madison County Alabama and died in Wise County Texas March 12, 1887) and his mother was Rebecca (Powell) Laird-Provence. Rebecca was born in Georgia in 1820 and died in Wise County Texas on Feb 2, 1894. Rebecca was married one time before she married Frazier and that was to a man named Turner Laird. Rebecca married Frazier after Turner Laird died.
John had one brother Albert M. Provence born July 20 1860 in Texas (either Parker, Wise or Titus County) and Albert died between 1883 and 1887 probably in Jack County Texas, Alberts wife was a Mary Ellen Fogarty (married names of Furry, Province, Davis and Gibbons.)Albert's wife and 4 children and their descendants spell their last name PROVIENCE and after leaving Texas they settled in the area of Lone Pine Calif. in the 1920's
