Mrs. Poston Is Stricken
Mrs. Helen Stewart Poston, 61, 545 Davie Ave., died at 11 o'clock Sunday morning at Iredell Memorial Hospital following an illness of one week. Death was due to a heart attack. Mrs. Poston was born Feb. 26, 1911, at Mocksville, and she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Fannie Dulin Stewart. She was a school teacher in the Iredell County system for 35 years and was educated at Meredith College and East Carolina University at Greenville. She was a member of the Statesville Woman's Club, Business & Professional Women's Club, Oasis Shrine Auxiliary, and Association of Retired Persons here in Statesville. Her husband, Hoy A Poston, died July 25, 1969. Mrs. Poston was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Olive Turnipseed Guild, May Salley Bible Class and the Women's Society of Christian Service. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning by Rev. C F Womble at Broad Street United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Oakwood cemetery. Surviving are two daughters Mrs. John C James of Maiden and Mrs. John H Clontz of Greensboro; one brother, Roger Stewart of Raleigh; three sisters, Mrs. Alma A Collins of Sunbury, Mrs. Edna S Young of Winston Salem, and Mrs. Jane S Fyne of Sumter, SC; and seven grandchildren.
