12/2/1954 ISAAC DAVIS, 72, a native of Elizabeth City, died suddenly Thursday (12/2/1954) while sawing wood at his home, 1717 North Road St. Extd. from a heart attack. Mr. Davis was a retired Locomotive Engineer for the N.Y. N.H. & Hartford Railroad, he retired in 1951 and moved back to Elizabeth City after 48 years with the railroad. He was the son of the late, Miles Lowry and Charlotte Andrews Davis. He was a member of the masonic lodge in New London, Conn., a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Fireman #608, a member of the Baptist Church in West Haven, Conn.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Caroline Holloway Davis, three sons, Miles B. Davis, West Haven, Conn., Robert S. Davis & Clarence H. Davis both of Elizabeth City; one sister, Mrs. Essie Quensteadt of Elizaeth City and one brother, Robert Davis, Route 3, Elizabeth City, 5 grandchildren.

Remains were removed to the Twiford Funeral Home, and will be forwarded to the Byles Funeral Hone in New London, Conn. for services to be announced later.

12/3/1954 - FUNERAL SERVICES FOR ISAAC DAVIS, 72, who died suddenly at his residence, 1717 North Road St. Extd. were conducted Friday night at 8:00 o'clock in the chapel of the Twiford Funeral Home, Rev W. W. Finlator, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiated.

My Faith Looks Up To Thee and Rock of Ages was sung by Mrs. Frank Stilwell, Rodney Trueblood accompanied at the console of the organ.

Remains will be forwarded Saturday to the Byles Funeral Home in New London, Conn. for masonic services and burial in the Jordan Cemetery in New London, Conn.
