Born December 2, 1920 in New Cumberland, he was the son of the late Alvie E. and Ruth (Parthemore) Balsbaugh.
“Bill” was a good neighbor, community minded and a kind and gentle man. He was member of Christ Lutheran Church, Duncannon, a board member and past president of Duncannon Senior Citizens, a former member of the Duncannon Borough Council, and a board member of Union Cemetery. He owned and operated Balsbaugh’s Clothing Store. He had been the manager of Amity Hall Restaurant, Duncannon, and Water Gap Lunch of Dauphin. He enjoyed restoring antiques, caning chairs, traveling, cooking holiday meals and delivering meals on wheels. He was proud of the fact that he never missed an election and was a member of the Pennsylvania Voter Hall of Fame.
He was the widower of Lois (Miller) Balsbaugh and is survived by two sons, Jim Balsbaugh and wife Dianna of Duncannon and Jon Balsbaugh and wife Donna of Mechanicsburg. 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Sandy Balsbaugh.
SERVICE DETAILS
Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, July 3, 2020 in the Boyer Family Funeral Home, 230 N. High Street, Duncannon. Chaplin, Kenneth Fornicola will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Duncannon, followed by a luncheon at Cooper Field served by the Boyer Family. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.
COVID-19 protocols will be observed with masks and social distancing at the funeral home.
The Boyer Family is honored to handle the arrangements for the Balsbaugh Family.
