May 19, 1939 ~ April 24, 2021
Darlene Mae Becraft, age 81 of Osceola, passed away at home with her family by her side on Saturday, April 24, 2021. Darlene was born May 19, 1939 in Edwardsburg, Michigan to the late Charles and Jenny (Maciejewski) Szyzpiorski. In 1957, she married Joseph Becraft in South Bend, Indiana. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sons Michael Becraft of Gulf Breeze, Florida, Joseph (Deb) Becraft of Union, MI, and Charles Becraft of Osceola, 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her children Margaret Huff and Thomas Becraft as well as her siblings Leo, Charles, Vicki and Clara.
Darlene was employed as a seamstress in a fabric factory for over 30 years before her retirement. In her spare time, she was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears and Notre Dame football team. Darlene also enjoyed spending time outdoors and talking on the phone with her friends and family. Her family will miss her amazing cooking skills that were passed down to her through her family's Polish heritage.
Most of all, Darlene will be remembered as a supportive and loving mother to her children and grandchildren. Following Joseph's death in 1974, Darlene worked full time to make sure her children were provided for, and she was proud to do so. She was an excellent mother whose life revolved around her children and grandchildren's sports and activities. Her work ethic, caring spirit and perseverance to overcome obstacles many other Mom's did not have to face will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held at 1pm Fri. April 30, 2021 at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Cruz Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with her care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
