If she knew you, you were her friend! This great quality enabled her to fulfill her callings as a visiting teacher and ward librarian to the highest standard. Shiela was an avid bowler, softball player, amazing seamstress, very talented at crocheting, and a die hard Smiths employee. She definitely didn't enjoy when the item she needed was only to be found at Walmart. Shiela loved babies! She loved her own, she loved her grand babies, and she loved her great-grandbabies. Nothing brought her more joy than when a new baby was announced. She loved them all beyond measure. She loved to gather with her family.
Shiela leaves behind her loving husband of 54 years, Joseph Maughan; daughters Teresa (Russell) Saari, Tamara (Brent) Bodily, Shauna (Mark) Ellsworth, Sherrie (Brandon) King, Heidi (Michael) Kent, Heather (Sheldon) Stewart, Kristine Felt; son Mark (Emily) Maughan; 36 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; as well as brothers Earl (Arlene) Saunders, Robert Saunders; sister Mearritta (Sid) Waite; and sister-in-law Janice Saunders.
Preceding her in death were her son, John Joseph Maughan; parents Earl Saunders and Mildred Carlson Saunders; brother LaVell Saunders; and sister-in-law Judy Saunders.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 PM at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S Redwood Rd Taylorsville, UT 84123, and one hour prior to funeral services on Friday at the church.
