Anna Helene Svardal was born to Norwegian immigrants Per Hanson and Brynhild Andersdatter Eidem Svardal at their farm in Dodge County, MN, the oldest of two daughters of this couple who lived to adulthood. The farm was across the road from Per's two older sisters, Kari and Brita and their families, and down the road from their church, South Zumbro Lutheran, where Anna was baptized and confirmed. Kari was my ancestor. Anna's mother was my 2nd great grandfather, Bardo Eidem's sister.

Anna's father, Per Hanson Svardal was the younger brother to my g.g.grandmother, Kari Svardal Fjerstad whose farm was across the road from Per Hanson and Brynhild Eidem Svardal in Dodge County, MN.

Anna was 8 when her father died. Her Uncle Bardo A. Eidem and family arrived within months, and lived with Anna and her mother and sister. They helped with the farm and raising Anna and her sister, Betsy. Bardo was my g.g.grandfather on the Eidem line.

Anna's first child was Alma, with Erik Nilsson Sanvik (1890 - 1983). Erik was my g.grandfather on the Sanvik line. Anna married Gustave Gustaveson (later Gustafson) and they had six children, three of whom survived infancy: Peder, Palmer and Florence. When Gustaveson died in WI, Anna married Stephen Cunningham, the farm hand. Anna and Stephen had three sons who survived to adulthood: Joseph, Karl and Francis.

Anna and her family moved west of Moscow Idaho, where they purchased a beautiful small farm on a knoll. On a trip to Moscow, her buggy tipped over and she died 3 days later, it is believed from a bacterial infection. During that time, it was common to have streets that had sewage running across and that is the theory how the infection took over. The death certificate said 'bacterial infection'. It was also the time of the Spanish Flu Pandemic.

Anna is buried next to several beloved family members, including her only daughter, some sons and grandsons.
