Benjamin Grissom Dies in Brownville

Benjamin Elza Grissom was born August 17, 1859, Columbia, Adams [should be Adair] county, Kentucky, and died Saturday, July 21, 1928, at the age of 68 years eleven months and fourteen days.

At the age of ten he went to live with his uncle and aunt in Madison county, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. Then he moved to Illinois and remained there until 1879. From there he went to Jefferson county, Nebraska. He was married at Howell, Nebr., 1890, to Mary Kelsey, and to this union two children were born, Mrs. Bertha Kelly of Brownville and Earl McKenzie [Grissom] of Fairbury, Nebr.

He became a member of the Methodist church in the nineties.

He leaves to mourn his passing, besides his children, one full brother, John H Grissom, Fairbury, Nebr., two half-brothers, George W and F R, and four half-sisters, Belle, Carrie, Catherine, and Iona, all of Nebraska except one. He also leaves ten grandchildren.

Rev. J. W. Sapp conducted the funeral services Monday afternoon at the church and the remains were laid to rest in the Walnut Grove cemetery. Two brothers, two sisters, one nephew, son and daughter were present at the services.
