Robert J. Williams, age 66, of Pittsfield, IL passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021 at his home. He was born on September 6, 1954 in Aurora, IL to James F. and Hattie Van Buskirk Williams. Bob married Joyce Smith on March 7, 1981 at the Griggsville Christian Church with the service conducted by Joe Hughes and she survives.

Bob attended school in Griggsville until his senior year and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1973. He went on to Spoon River Community College and graduated in 1975 with an Associate Degree in Automotive Repair. Bob worked for Welbourne Electric in Jacksonville until they closed and then went on to work for West Side Auto Parts in Jacksonville until he was unable to work due to polio. He loved to tinker in his garage and helped area farmers keep their equipment running. Bob loved his family and close friends and was known as a 'gentle giant'. He was ornery, cantankerous and a wonderful storyteller. Bob loved to fish and greatly enjoyed family 'Pee Wee Adventures' and he loved his title as 'Uncle Bob Square Pants' by his great niece, Cylee McDaniles.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Joyce Williams; daughter, Denise (Mike) Joiner of Carlinville, IL; nieces and nephews, Carrie McDaniles, Emily Smith, Jessica Lash, Jeremy Smith, Brad Sneeden, Byan Sneeden, Lisa Taft, Jamie Flowers, Maggie Barker, Darrell Flowers and Lathan Williams; sister, Sharon Sneeden; brothers in law, Max Flowers and Jerry Smith; he is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Hattie Williams; brother, Rick Williams; sister, Patty Flowers; and brother in law, Butch Sneeden.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 6:00 PM at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with visitation prior to the service from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to be made to the Pittsfield Fire Department. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.
