Morris Lee Palmer, 95, of Huntsville, MO, died, June 3, 2017, at Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon. Morris was born August 19, 1921 in Fayette, MO, to Robert Richard and Eunice Vivian (Atkins) Palmer.

Morris served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was assigned to the 43rd Infantry Division. After Japan surrendered he served as a guard in the 1st Calvary in Japan. He received numerous citations and medals, including two Bronze Stars.

Upon returning home he worked at Brown Shoe Factory, was a farmer, and retired in 1995 from the Randolph County Road Department.

He married Laveta A. "Sally" Reed on December 23, 1939 in Huntsville. They were married for 73 years until her death on February 11, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his children, Donna Green of Independence, MO, James Robert Palmer and wife Vicky of Camdenton, MO, Karen Reed and husband Keith of Huntsville; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a sister Lucille Brune of Moberly; a nephew Dale Brockman of Marceline; many friends and neighbors; and his fur babies, Duchess and Dixie Doodle.

He went on the Honor Flight to Washington DC in 2012. He loved motorcycles and fishing. Morris received a plaque for catching the biggest northern pike at Thomas Hill Lake.

Services honoring and celebrating Morris' life were held at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Committal prayers, military honors, and burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery.
