Charlotte Isabella "Bell" Burnett Autrey was the daughter of Permelia Angeline Deatherage and her husband (unk) Burnett. Angeline was widowed during the Civil War, and returned to the home of her parents with her infant daughter Bell.

Bell and her mother are found living with her grandparents (Abner J. Deatherage and Mary Marney Deatherage) in Tarrant County, Texas, on the 1880 U.S. Census. Also in the home is an orphaned 2nd cousin, Rutha Vermillion.

On 11 Jul 1883, Bell's mother remarried, to Ozias Rumfield, a veteran of the Civil War. Together, Angeline and Ozias had two children, Ethel Ann and Roscoe, providing Bell with two half-siblings. The Rumfield family continued living in Tarrant County. However, Bell's grandmother Mary returned to Tennessee after the death of her husband Abner.

Bell was married just two years after her mother's remarriage, wedding George "Bud" Autrey on 26 Apr 1885. Bell and Bud also made their home in Tarrant County, where they had nine known children:

James Kirby Autrey (1887-1952) - #79723510
