Jimmy Ray Hicks of Mooreville, MS passed from this life's journey on March 18, 2020, at the age of 81 years & 11 months in the Hospice unit of North MS Medical Center after knee surgery & complications of sepsis. He was born in Saltillo,MS one of nine children. His father was Raymond Lester Hicks & his mother was Willie Lee McKissick. His working career as a mechanic centered around his great love for cars & trucks. At the time of his retirement, he was the owner of Mooreville Tire & Wrecker Service. Most of his younger years were spent building fast cars & enjoying drag racing as a hobby. Having a bigger than life personality, he never met a stranger & knew everyone. Grandchildren & great grandchildren were his heart & legacy. Known as "Big Daddy" to each of them, he delighted in sharing ice cream dates, chocolate gravy & biscuits, & a love for fast cars. Jimmy is survived by 6 children: Marlin Kirk Swan of Waco, Texas; Monica Ann Hicks Estes (Len) of Mooreville, MS; Kellie Michelle Hicks Elmore (Ace) of Tupelo, MS; Derrick Ray Hicks of Sherman, MS; Jimmy Lee "Ped" Hicks of Saltillo, MS; & Brittney Shay Hicks Underwood (Kim) of Belmont, MS. He is also survived by sister, Fay Hicks Knolton of Memphis, TN & brother, Otis Merle Hicks of Fayetteville, GA. Jimmy leaves behind 13 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren, as well as many devoted nieces & nephews. He is also survived by the mothers of his children: Fay Swan of Tupelo, Sherry Kelly Hicks of Sherman, & Nancy C. Hastings of Fulton, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond & Willie Hicks; sisters - Ola Lee Hicks Carroll, Annie Mildred Hicks Tanner, Mary Ruth Hicks Harris, & Kathleen Hicks Keelin; brothers - Hawl Wayne Hicks & Hubert Earl Hicks. It has been said that "What we once enjoyed & deeply loved, we can never lose, for all that we love deeply, becomes part of us."
