John was a student athlete, playing basketball from elementary through high school. He was a talented musician and vocalist. He was born into a musical family who traveled performing gospel bluegrass music. He served with his family in their missions ministry evangelism in Mexico, for many years. He was a skilled worship leader and sports ministry team leader. At a very young age, John served as a worship leader at several churches, church camps and youth ministry events.

John is survived by his parents; Rev. Chris and Susan Canote and nine siblings; Samantha & husband Nathan Carey of Clark, Mo; Adam & wife Tiffany Canote of Columbia, Mo; Zachary & wife Kaleigh Canote of Columbia, Mo; Alexander & wife Kelly Canote of Harrisburg, Mo; and Allison, Natalie, Charlotte, Victoria and Nicholas Canote of Clark, Mo. Grandparents; James & Dorothy Canote and Charles & Vickie Reno all of Harrisburg Mo. He is also survived by nieces & nephews; Carter, Henry & Josephine Canote, Clark, Mo; and Anderson & Miller Canote, Harrisburg, Mo. He was preceded in death by grandmother Joyce Rogers and her husband Don Rogers.
