Surviving are his children, William (Irene), Mary Jane, David (Mabel), Robert (Louise), Joann (Dean) Wrightsman, Alice Metzger; 16 grandchildren; 79 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Ellis (Rachel), Fannie Brunk, Bertha May (Marvin) Brubaker, sister-in-law, Alma Beckner, and many nephews and nieces.
Preceding him in death were his wife of 75 years, Fannie; parents Henry and Ida; son-in-law, Lynn Metzger; great-granddaughter, Nellie Rose Jamison; parents-in-law, Emory and Sarah Beckner; stepmother-in-law, Lucy Beckner; brothers and sisters and in-laws, Emory (Elizabeth), Nannie (Charlie) Austin, Annie (Levi) Bowman, Vernon (Frances), Loyd (Betty), Mary (Carey) Sarver, Susie (John) Bowman, Bessie and (Joel) Rutrough, Clara and Goldie Beckner, John Beckner; and step brother-in-law, Ozzie Altice.
Funeral services will be conducted at Pigg River Old German Baptist Brethren Church, at 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 18, 2021, with the Home Brethren officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Clearview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 9 p.m. on Friday, 2 until 4 p.m., and 5 until 9 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
