Adolfo "Ralph" R. Negrete, 87, of Bethlehem, returned to the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 10, 2021. He was born on May 22, 1933, the son of the late Soledad (Vasquez) and Rafael Negrete. He was the loving husband of Gloria F. (Parola) Negrete.
Ralph was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bethlehem Township, where he was a member of the Cursillo movement, the Holy Name Society, and the choir. He enjoyed spending his time working out at the YMCA and the Bethlehem Township gym. Ralph worked for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 40 years, where he worked with some of the earliest computers. In his earlier years, he was a ballroom dance instructor, a swimming instructor, and a certified lifeguard. He loved serenading his family on the organ and harmonica, working in his garden, reading about history, taking his family camping, and family game nights. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Gloria F. Negrete; daughters, Colette Rathman-Vranicar and her husband, Tom Vranicar and Maureen Bruneio and her husband, Charlie "Rod" Bruneio; brother, Carlos Negrete and grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan, and Nathan Rathman. Ralph was preceded in death by his brother, Gilbert Negrete.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, April 18, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 19, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 1817 1st Street., Bethlehem, PA 18020. Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
