Christopher Darren "Chris" Burton, 60 years of age, of Steele, Alabama, departed this life on Saturday, April 3rd, 2021.

Chris was born on June 4th, 1960, son of the late Jamie Carroll Burton and Doris Marlene Alexander Burton. Chris was a loving devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and he loved his Church and Church family. Chris was a member of Chandler Mountain Baptist Church. Chris was a staple in the Church, as he was a Deacon, a Sunday School Teacher, a youth director and music director. He had a great passion for music and for singing praises to his savior.

Chris also had a passion for sports and Alabama Football. He grew up playing baseball and football and played softball for many years of his adult life. He enjoyed so much seeing his Crimson Tide on top of the football world but it paled in comparison to coaching and watching his boys and grandchildren play ball and seeing them succeed in sports. He loved being at sporting events so much and hated anything that stood in his way of being there. Ballparks, football fields and gyms everywhere will forever remember his voice as he cheered for his team. Referees and umpires may remember that voice forever in a different way but will miss his passion at every game.

Chris was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad where he worked for thirty-three years. Chris enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons. Chris also enjoyed classic cars and trucks as you would often find him at home watching car shows and auctions on tv when you walked in the door. He also enjoyed the year he spent with his exchange student son from Iceland, Axel Margeirsson and the bond forever shared with Axel and his family. Axel was like another son to him. Chris loved his children and told everyone how proud he was of both of them and all of their accomplishments. He loved his grandchildren so much, as he was quick to let everyone know he had the best grand babies on this Earth and would light up every time he saw their faces.

Of all of the things Chris was passionate about he was most passionate for his wife of 41 years (Lynn). He loved Lynn with all of his heart and no doubt he took a piece of her heart with him when he left this world and he's in Heaven now just waiting for the day he can be with Lynn again. You rarely saw one without the other and they enjoyed all of the years and all of the time spent together making memories and raising a family. Chris lived a full life and loved people and touched so many lives in so many ways and will forever be missed by his family and friends and all that knew him.

Chris was survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Lynn Burton; two sons, Brandon (and Brandi) Burton and Eric Burton; three grandchildren, Case Burton, Tyson Burton, and Easton Burton; two brothers, Keith (and Sandy) Burton and Ken (and Nancy Jo) Burton; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

Chris was preceded in death by his unborn child, Baby Burton; his father, Jamie Burton, who departed this life on May 26th, 2019 and mother, Marlene Burton, who departed this life on January 13th, 2021; his father-in-law, Horace Warren and mother-in-law, Norma Warren.

Visitations were held from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7th, 2021 at the Chandler Mountain Baptist Church in Chandler Mountain, Alabama.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday April 7th, 2021 at the Chandler Mountain Baptist Church.

THIS IS A TRIBUTE IN MEMORY OF CHRIS,

1 Thessalonians 4. 16-18
(King James Version)

16. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
