He was born the son of Hughes and Myrtle Colvin in Lincoln Parish on August 6, 1925.
After volunteering for the US Navy and serving in the Pacific during World War II, he moved to Natchez, MS and shortly thereafter to Ferriday. He worked nearly all his career for the International Paper in Natchez and retired in 1987. After living several years in retirement on Lake St. John near Ferriday, he moved to Ruston to be near his family. He was a member of the Northside Church of Christ in Ruston.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Vera Holloway Colvin; daughter, Debbie Colvin of Monroe; son Lavelle Colvin of Bossier City, and numerous nieces and nephews.
