FARMER KILLS SELF IN DOUGLAS COUNTY
John Clyde McCarty, 55, a farmer, died at his home in Vanzant Tuesday night of self-inflicted rifle wounds, according to Douglas County Coroner, Clarence Clinkingbeard, who ruled the death a suicide.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the Vanzant Church with the Rev. Warner Smith officiating. Burial will be in Vanzant Cemetery under direction of Barber of Mountain Grove.
He is survived by his wife, Rena Jane; three sons, Leo, Mountain Grove, and Gerald and Eugene, both of Buffalo, Iowa; two daughters, Misses Violet and Shirley McCarty, both of the home.
He was the son of Thomas and Fannie Riley McCarty. His wife was Rena Jane Quick. The informant was Leo McCarty, his son.
