Janey Louise Safford Chelette entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 9, 2021, at home in Natchitoches, La., with her loved ones by her side.
Janey was born on October 31, 1942 in Texas City, Tx. She graduated from Glenmora High School in 1961. She worked as a legal secretary for several years and was a very talented painter and singer. Janey married Sergeant Jerry Chelette on Jan. 29, 1989. They were married for 32 years. Janey is preceded in death by her mother, Mabel Childree, her father, Rupert Safford, two sisters, Lee Ann Perry and Gene Caplan, and one brother Marion Scott Childree.
Janey is survived by her husband Sergeant Jerry Chelette and two sons, Andrew J. Fisk III (Betty Fisk) and Mark J. Fisk (Rhonda Ford); her two sisters, Jo Lapeyrouse (Red) and Nancy Tidwell; her brother, Rupert Eugene Safford II; her stepson, Timothy Chelette; her seven grandchildren, Mark Fisk Jr., Nathan Fisk, Michaela Fisk, Santanna Goudeau, Charma Chelette, Blayton Chelette, Zyanna Chelette and three great-grandchildren. Janey is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are welcome to join us in celebrating her life at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, with Bro. John R. Elliott officiating at John Kramer & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Alexandria Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.
