Born in Buckwheat Valley he would go on to serve in the 1st Co., 11th Regt., during the War of 1812. He was a Justice of the Peace and kept a record of births marriages and deaths that seemed important to him at the time. It has been microfilmed and was published in its entirety in the local paper.
In about 1840 Michael bought a mill from Henry Bull which remained in the Donnally family for three generations and gave the town of Donnally Mills its name.
