Death of W.D. Grant...

William David Grant was born July 1st,1818 in Woodford County, Illinois, he departed this life, January 17, 1925, at his home near Pomona. At an early age the deceased became a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Peoria, Illinois, and at the age of 22 became class leader in the same Church and lived a consistent Christian Life a number of years.                                                                                             

In 1875, he was married to Martha A. Shepherd, who preceded him in death.  To this union were born 3 children, two of whom with a step-daughter survive him.              

 In 1883 he married Harriet Jane Hayes and to this union were born 13 children, 3 of whom preceded him in death.                                                                                                        

The deceased moved to Butler County, Kansas in 1879, where he resided for 36 years and reared a family of 16 children and where he had a number of devoted friends and neighbors. In 1910 he moved to Howell County, Missouri. It was his request to be buried beneath Missouri soil.                                                                                                       

 He leaves to mourn his loss, four brothers Lincoln, Richard, Caleb, and Presley Grant and a sister Miss Nettie Grant, all of Illinois, a sister, Mrs. Lilly Willamson of Battle Creek, Mich., a loving wife, Harriet J, Grant, six sons and six daughters, Mrs. Mary Ann Leitzke and Mrs. Jennie J. Leitzke, both of Augusta, Kansas, James B. Grant, 0f Highwood, Mont., Stanley R. Grant of Topka, Kansas, Mrs. Sylvia G. Webb of Maple Valley, Wash., Delbert D. Grant., Elgin W. Grant, Mrs. Alice R. Miller, Mrs. Mae J. Rider, Oliver O. Grant, Mrs. Lilly M. Miller and Arlie E. Grant all of Howell County. There are thirty-one grandchildren and four great grandchildren surviving.                                                     

 The remains were laid to rest in the Lost Camp cemetery.
