Keziah Pickering Busick is buried in Matkins Cemetery, Putnam County, Indiana. When she died young, she left many children, and her husband, William Drake, remarried another Busick (likely related to Keziah) in 1856 after Keziah's death in 1853.
My sister Megan and I visited this Matkins Cemetery in Putnam County, Indiana in June of 2001 on a trip to research our roots. We drove back and forth for hours trying to find a way to access this area, for which I had Latitude/Longitude coordinates for. It was located on farmland between two county roads, near an old 1800s era covered bridge, within sight of Interstate 70 (which was south of the site).
Finally, after being frustrated by being proper, I walked onto private property, knowing I had a legal right to access this cemetery. I followed what seemed like an overgrown trail, and sure enough, it led the Matkins Cemetery, a beautifully maintained cemetery in the middle of nowhere. My ancestor, Keziah Busick Drake, was buried in this cemetery with what appears to be most of her mother's Matkins extended family. Her young son James L. Drake is buried next to her. We derive Keziah's middle name, Pickering, from her grandmother who we believe her to be named after. In all instances, Keziah's middle initial is listed as a "P", and in the tradition of the past, children were also directly named after their grandparents and parents and sometimes even great-grandparents to keep names in the parents. We believe this to be the case with Keziah's grandmother, Keziah Pickering.
Her parents were Benjamin Busick and Sarah Matkins.
