Ellen was married to John W. Gravatt, Sr. and they were married in 1857. To this union eleven children were born:

Mary Lavina 1858n- 1936; married "Tal" Housewright
Susan 1860 - 1863
John Wesley 1861 -1928; married Alice Norris (daughter of Organ Norris - Dent County)
William W. 1864; married Fanny Atchison
Catharine 1863 - 1863
Charlie 1866 - 1944; married Rev. Addie DeNoon
Ella M. 1868; married Charlie Gruver
Martha 1871; married Joel "Jodie" Beasley
George W. 1872 - 1873
Amanda 1874; married 1 Martin, 2 Morrison
Newton 1876 - 1882

Ellen is buried at Barnicle Chapel Cemetery and deeded the land to the cemetery in 1891.
John died in 1886 and is also buried in the cemetery.
