Lois Odessa Brooks, 94, of Columbus passed away at 11:58 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Miller's Merry Manor in Hope. Odessa was born in Blackey, KY on November 20, 1926 to Cecil and Mae Ison . She was married to Francis G. Brooks on October 19, 1946.

Odessa owned and operated Stanfield's Dress Shop from 1961 to 1984 and was employed at Wagner Reality for over 20 years. She enjoyed mushroom hunting and going to dog shows. She loved her dog Dreamer, who was a Bichon Frise. She also was fond of Shetland Sheep dogs.

A private graveside service will be held at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Survivors include her son, Wayne (Deborah) Brooks of Hope; a grand-daughter, Lisa (Scott) Moore and Great Grandson Tyler Moore of Columbus, IN. A sister, Pauline Patterson of North Vernon, IN. Sister-in-law Ann Ison. There are also many nieces and nephews.

Odessa was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Mae Ison; her husband, Francis who passed away in January 1979; a brother, Cecil O. Ison and a sister, Louise Wager.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bartholomew County Humane Society or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
